2024-2025 PTSA Committees

Who can serve on a PTSA Committee?

Any parent, grandparent, or guardian who is a LaVilla PTSA member

Is previous experience required?

While previous experience is helpful it is not required. Current board members are available to support.

Am I required to be an approved volunteer through DCPS?

While all roles do not require volunteer approval, some do in order to be on campus for events. It is highly recommended each board member is an approved volunteer.  Link to application: https://dcps.duvalschools.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=29120

What is the time commitment?

Each position has different time commitments. All committee members are expected to attend each monthly committee meeting (held virtually and in person).

COMMITTEES YOU CAN JOIN:

Merchandise Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Fall

• Design and select PTSA merch to be sold throughout the school year
• Attend various events to help sell merchandise

Events Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Ongoing, varies by event

• Plan event theme/purpose
• Coordinate decorations, supplies, vendors, and food
• Attend various events to support facilitation
• Coordinate annual service project

Dance Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: October and March/April, any additional dances

• Plan event theme/purpose
• Coordinate decorations and concession
• Attend dances to support facilitation

Reflections Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Fall

• Promote 2024-2025 theme and encourage participation of students
• Review and selection of winning student submissions
• Plan participants' and winners' recognition

Volunteers Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Ongoing, varies by event

• Engage and acknowledge volunteers to ensure ongoing support
• Attend events to support facilitation and volunteer management
• Support with annual volunteer appreciation event

Fundraising Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Ongoing, varies by event

• Coordinate fundraisers throughout the school year
• Promote ongoing fundraising campaigns
• Attend fundraising events to support facilitation
• Recommend additional fundraising opportunities

Student Recognition Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: End of each quarter

• Coordinate honor roll celebrations each quarter (3)
• Coordinate vendors for events, as needed
• Attend honor celebrations to support facilitation
• Identify and recommend additional student recognition opportunities

Hospitality Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Ongoing

• Coordinate staff appreciation events
• Recognize teachers and staff for life events (birthdays, new babies, accomplishments, etc.)

Education Enrichment Committee

Busiest Time of the Year: Ongoing

• Solicit donations from community members
• Promote grant opportunities and processes with faculty
• Review applications from faculty and select awardees
• Send thank you letters to donors
